So you’re thinking about getting a cotton candy vending machine. You’re probably picturing the classic pink fluff, and that’s fair. That’s what most people picture. But the modern machines do a lot more than that. We’ve shipped over 3,000 units to 130+ countries at Wider Matrix, and the variety our clients run is wilder than you’d expect. Here’s what’s actually possible, from what comes in the box to what you can customize.

Standard Flavors: What Comes in the Box
Our machines ship with pre-mixed granulated sugar. The compact MG301 starts at US$4,400, the outdoor WM668 goes up to US$5,299. Both run on the same sugar system.
We produce six standard flavors in-house: Milk, Banana, Strawberry, Blueberry, Apple, and Grape. Each flavor has its own color, so you get the taste and the visual without doing anything extra.
The sugar granules are 1.2 to 1.7mm, powder-free, and formulated specifically for our machines. You load the tanks and that’s it. The WM980, which is our most popular model, comes with four 2kg tanks. That means four flavors at once. If you want six, the WM668 has six 2kg tanks standard, so you can run the full lineup simultaneously.
Can You Get More Than Six Flavors?

Yes, but it depends on your hardware.
The six flavors we list are what we make and test ourselves. The machines use a standard heating and spinning mechanism, so technically you can run any cotton candy sugar that meets the granule size spec. We’ve seen operators source watermelon, bubble gum, sour apple from third-party suppliers. It works. But we can only guarantee consistent results with our own sugar. If you deviate, texture and machine performance might suffer.
There’s another route. If you want a unique flavor for branding, we do OEM and ODM customization. We’ve built private-label sugar blends with custom colors and flavors for clients. Minimum order quantities apply. It’s how you stand out in a crowded market.
Patterns and Shapes: Not Just a Ball of Fluff

Patterns are where this gets interesting.
Our machines produce the classic round cotton candy shape. The final look depends on how it’s collected. The spinning head creates layers of sugar strands, and the operator or the robotic arm can shape the candy into different forms. The WM980+ has an upgraded chassis with extra LED strip lighting that highlights the candy while it’s being made. It adds a visual element that people stop and watch.
Some operators use custom cones or sticks to create swirl patterns. You can adjust the sugar feed rate to get denser or fluffier textures. Denser candy holds shape better, which matters if you’re making cotton candy lollipops. We don’t sell a “pattern kit.” The machine is flexible enough that you can experiment with techniques on your own.
What About Multi-Color Swirls?

This comes up a lot. Can you get those carnival-style rainbow swirls?
Yes, but you need multiple tanks feeding into the same head.
The WM668, our outdoor model, has six tanks. Load different colors and the machine produces a multicolor effect. The WM980 can be upgraded to 4x3kg tanks for US$200 more, which gives you larger volume but still only four tanks. That limits your color combinations. For true rainbow patterns, the six-tank WM668 is the one to get.
Customization and Consumables

We sell paper towel rolls at US$0.050 each. Default is white, but custom patterns are available if you order 100,000 or more. If you want your logo or a fun design on the wrapper, we can do that.
Sugar bags can be branded with your own label through our OEM service. Same minimums apply.
Limitations You Should Know About
No machine is perfect for every situation.
The MG301 and CT580 are solid for small venues, but they only have one or two tanks. Flavor variety is limited. If you want to run six flavors at the same time, you need at least the WM668.
Also, cotton candy is mostly air. Flavors are subtle. Strong artificial flavors might not carry the way you expect. We recommend testing a small batch before committing to a large order. I’ve seen operators go all-in on a flavor they thought would be a hit, and it wasn’t.
A Real Example: Dubai Mall Kiosk
Last year, a client in Dubai put a WM668 in a high-traffic mall. They ran all six standard flavors and added a custom “rose” flavor for local appeal. The outdoor rating on the machine was overkill for an indoor location, but they wanted the six-tank capacity.
Numbers: 120 sales per day average at US$5 per candy. Payback in under five months.
What worked: they rotated seasonal flavors. Pumpkin spice in winter, mango in summer. Repeat customers came back for the new stuff.
The Short Version
Six standard flavors: Milk, Banana, Strawberry, Blueberry, Apple, Grape. You can run 4 to 6 at once depending on the model. Patterns are mostly classic round, but multi-color swirls are possible with multiple tanks. Custom flavors and branded consumables are available through OEM.

FAQ
Can I use regular granulated sugar in these machines?
No. Use our pre-mixed cotton candy sugar (1.2 to 1.7mm granules). Regular sugar clogs the heating element and gives inconsistent results. We wrote a full guide on this here.
How many flavors can I offer at once?
Depends on the model. MG301 and CT580 have 1 to 2 tanks. WM980 has 4. WM668 has 6. Upgrades are available on some models.
Do you support sugar-free or organic flavors?
Our standard sugar is not sugar-free. For organic or sugar-free formulations, talk to our OEM team.
Can the machine make shaped cotton candy, like hearts or animals?
Not automatically. The machine produces a standard round candy. Shapes require manual twisting after dispensing. You can train staff to do it.
What’s the profit margin on cotton candy?
High. Our sugar costs about US$3.25 per bag, which makes 50 to 60 servings. We wrote a full breakdown here.
